Female care worker

Kylie, Unit Manager at Castle Court said:

“Previously they could only have a phone call or we would post letters on their behalf.  Now they can see each other - the resident’s faces light up with smiles of recognition and laughter at seeing their loved ones live on the screen.”

Staff can help the residents take part in the call after homes got supplied with a laptop, microphone and bespoke instructions.

Kylie added: “The residents can easily feel forgotten in these strange times and not understand what is going on.

“These skype calls definitely make a difference and are crucial for the resident’s mental health and for families who can see their loved ones even if they can’t visit them at this time.

“We are planning to hold a 100th birthday via Skype soon for a resident and their family.  It’s definitely a new way of working we’ll retain. “
