Amanda Clayton usually works in Democratic Services based at the Town Hall but in response to the current crisis she is now working in the crematorium. 

Amanda is splitting her time between two roles - a chapel attendant and an admin support role.

Amanda said:

“The work I am doing in the chapel is very different to my normal job. It’s unusual to witness so many funeral services back to back and my friends and family do think it’s a little strange, but there’s nothing macabre here. 

“It’s a position of privilege and responsibility to be a part of someone’s final journey and to make the experience as positive as it can be for their families. 

“In my normal role I interact with officers from across the council each day but here it feels like a peaceful bubble that allows mourners to have space and time to start their grieving process.”
