Samantha Westwell in Ambulance uniform

Samantha Westwell, Ambulance Operations Manager for Derbyshire has been with East Midlands Ambulance Service since 25 April 2000, after following her lifelong dream to become a paramedic.

Most recently she has been working on a project to bring in mutual aid from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue to help with the current COVID pandemic.

Samantha says she can’t believe where the 20 years have gone but, in that time, she has learnt some valuable life lessons which will stay with her wherever the next 20 years takes her.

She said:

“This job has helped me realise my own resilience and strength. If there is anything I have learnt in these twenty years at EMAS, it has been always to set a goal to work towards and to not give up in the face of difficulty.

“There has been many highs and lows but that hasn’t stopped me achieving what I’ve set out to do.”
