The 21-year-old is now working extra shifts in one of our care homes in the evenings and at weekends – as well as continuing to do her day job.
Aware of the significant impact of the pandemic and in admiration of the role of care workers, she stepped in to help support and care for older adults.
She said:
“I am extremely passionate about supporting adults and I desperately wanted to help in any way I could, to ensure older people continued to receive vital care and support
“I have always admired and respected the hard work that care workers do, when visiting settings as part of my day-to-day role, to review care and support for older adults”.
“The carers I am working alongside at Beechcroft Care Home are inspirational, treating residents with such dignity and respect, and really caring for their well-being.
“This experience is only increasing the respect I have for our amazing carers and I only wish I could do even more!
“This experience has enlightened me to the hard work that our carers do to ensure people’s needs are met and this is something I will continue to acknowledge in my future practice.
“The residents are amazing and keeping strong during this really difficult time. Anything I can do to make a resident smile, laugh, and feel better about their day whilst providing care and support, is the biggest reward I could ask for.”
