Woman weaing a telephone headset

In normal times Julia Ashbrook works as a Business Services Officer for Derbyshire County Council. For the last few weeks she has been answering the phone at our Community Response Unit, making sure that Derbyshire people who need help hear a friendly voice at the end of the phone.

The team find support for people who need help with shopping, food deliveries, medication, social contact and financial advice and assistance.

"It's been very busy and the phones haven’t stopped some days, and talking to people who have nobody to support them and are quite vulnerable or ill has been quite upsetting at times, but it's also been very rewarding being able to reassure people and arrange for them to get the help they need, whether it’s food, medicine or just someone to chat to."
