100th birthday celebrations

Local resident Liz Haynes said:

“Dougie’s special birthday event with his family had to be cancelled due to coronavirus so residents swung into action as we couldn’t let the day pass without celebrating in some way.

“It was pretty emotional as it came as a total surprise to him - he is such a great chap”

There was a great turnout in the village with everyone clapping and cheering Dougie as he rode around the village on his mobility scooter to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Dougie toured the village with his daughter Linda Pendleton and was greeted with lots of smiling faces all wishing him well.

“It’s great to see Yeaveley coming together as a local community and supporting its residents, especially to wish Dougie a happy 100th birthday” said Rob from Yeaveley Arms.

“He is intellectual, independent, with a fantastic sense of humour and a pleasure to be around” added next door neighbour Miranda Moorley.
